Societal problems needs sustainable solutions  - Prof. Furqan Qamar International Urdu Social Science Congress inaugurated at MANUU

Hyderabad:

"The social scientists should explore the societal problems and help in finding sustainable solutions"  implored Prof. Furqan Qamar, Former Vice Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh Central University today at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). He was delivering the keynote address in the inaugural of two-day VI International Urdu Social Science Congress ‘Technology, Society and Environment’. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor presided over the function.

Prof. Furqan Qamar in his address delved upon the challenges faced by the researchers in the field of Social Sciences.

Speaking as the chief guest, Prof. Dhananjay Singh, Director, National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language has highlighted the traditions of knowledge in India and focused on the need to bridge the gap between humanities and social sciences and which will enrich both. He also appreciated the beauty of Urdu language in blending knowledge sources from the modern to traditional knowledge base.

Prof. Ainul Hasan has stressed the  need of interdisciplinary studies and focusing on social science research to find solutions for the problems of the society.

Prof. Deepak Kumar, Honorary Professor of History MANUU has stressed that there is a need to employ techniques in promoting social sciences research and also understand them in a historical perspective.

Prof. Farida Siddiqui, Convenor of the Congress and Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences delivered the welcome address and explained the contribution of the School in promoting research. Dr. Syed Najiullah, Co-convenor Congress and Head, Dept. of Public Administration briefed about the Congress and Mr. Ikramul Haq, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks.

A book with the compilations of research articles from the previous Congresses was also released on the occasion.

Around 100 delegates and a large number of participants attended the programme.

The congress is being organized by the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS) of MANUU.
